DESCRIPTION: Many of the herbs used in everyday culinary creations have long been used as medicinal staples by cultures all around the world. In “Food is Medicine” we will explore 5 herbs that we use regularly and their potential for application as medicine for ailments ranging from stomaches to muscular pains. Participants will make an infused herbal oil and an oxymel employing knowledge of herbal energetics to heartfully craft 2 tonic preparations that can be used internally and/or topically.

WHAT THIS WORKSHOP WILL COVER —

• introduction to herbal energetics

• insights into the histories of kitchen herbalism

• 5 plant profiles featuring basil, ginger, mint, chamomile, and rosemary

• brief overview of the energetics of several other herbs also used in culinary

• prompts for consideration of flavor profiles when crafting tonics

• etymological breakdown of the word “recipe”
