Vietnamese: This plant is native to Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam. It is reported to have a wealth of medicinal qualities with benefits for Alzheimer’s, blood pressure, inflammation, and diabetes. It is also popular in Thai cuisine. It can grow 4 to 5 feet tall and likes a lot of water and partial sun to full shade. Hoan ngoc is frost sensitive so either keep it in a pot that can be moved inside for winter or create a microclimate to protect it from the cold.

Longevity: This perennial spinach-like plant is native to Southeast Asia where it is a nutritious component of salads, sandwiches, and soups. It is reported to have a myriad of health benefits related to blood sugar and cholesterol regulation, weight loss, and more. It grows to around 12 inches in height and can grow in full sun but prefers partial shade.

Malabar: This perennial vining spinach-like plant is rich in Vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, protein, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. It is also said to be high in antioxidants. It can be eaten raw or cooked and will thrive in our Florida summers. Malabar spinach likes full sun and will need to be kept moist. It is a climbing vine so using a trellis or a tree for support is advised.
