Wild coffee (Psychotria nervosa) is an evergreen shrub native to Florida,  characterized by its shiny dark green leaves, clusters of small white flowers,  and red fruits resembling true coffee beans but lacking flavor and containing no caffeine. The shrub grows well in partial to full shade and can  be used as a specimen plant, hedge, or espalier. It is moderately salt and drought tolerant and responds well to pruning.  Wild coffee is also a  nectar source for the rare Atala butterfly found primarily in southeast Florida.
