We’re excited for the return of our most popular teachers to the farm, sharing her expertise on Permaculture and building Food Forests!
What if our yards could do more than just look beautiful? In this three-hour evening class, we’ll explore how to transform the spaces around us into diverse, abundant food forests filled with fruit trees, perennial vegetables, herbs, medicinal plants, pollinator habitat, and plants that build soil and fertility. Using practical agroforestry principles, we’ll look at how plants can be layered and combined to create living systems that produce food while improving the land year after year.
This class is about giving people the skills and confidence to actually grow more of their own food. We’ll walk through choosing plants for North Florida, designing food forest layers and plant guilds, building soil, creating mulch and fertility on site, managing water, and turning an existing yard or property into a productive ecosystem. Whether you have a small backyard or several acres, you’ll leave with practical ideas you can begin implementing right away—and a better understanding of how growing useful plants at home can contribute to healthier land, stronger communities, greater biodiversity, and a more resilient local food system.
